'Titanic Belfast' by Studio Halt

The iconic design of Titanic Belfast building comprises many maritime metaphors including water crystals, ships bows & the White Star logo.
 
‘Titanic Belfast’ is created with 2d needle felting technique, using short fibre New Zealand carded wool which is felted into shape using a variety of barbed felting needles. When the needle is pushed through loose wool, the needle’s barbs catch and pull the fibres so they tangle and bind together to create a matted felt fabric. The more the needle is ‘stabbed’ into the wool, the firmer and smaller it becomes. Colours can be mixed and blended together and different effects can be achieved by setting down layers of the wool also. The wool is the paint.
